A historic day in medicine — today my brother Scott presented data to the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) on VERVE-102, a base-editing therapy targeting PCSK9 to treat high cholesterol. After a single dose, patients experienced a permanent, highly significant reduction in cholesterol levels without significant adverse effects. The results were published concurrently in the New England Journal of Medicine, with Scott as first author — a huge accomplishment after years of hard work and sacrifice, and a genuinely exciting development for how we'll care for cardiovascular disease patients in the years ahead.
